A Dream into Taohuawu, a Millennium of Gusu Ink Charm | Taohuawu Theater Officially Opens
On March 6th, the Taohuawu Theater, embodying both historical charm and modern innovation, officially opened in the heart of Suzhou's ancient city at Taohuawuli. At the event, leaders from Gusu District and Jinchang Street, DoBe Group Chairman Jia Bo, and renowned architect Yu Ting attended and cut the ribbon for the theater's inauguration.

The design concept of Taohuawu Theater stems from a profound understanding of Tang Bohu's artistic and personal spirit. The exterior of the theater intentionally preserves traces of demolition, creating a striking contrast with the interior's ornate and vibrant design. This not only reflects Tang Bohu's spirit of breaking feudal constraints through artistic creation despite career setbacks but also showcases the unique beauty of blending old and new architecture. Designer Yu Ting skillfully integrated Tang Bohu's artistic spirit into every detail of the theater.

In its specific design expression, the theater draws inspiration from the landscape aesthetics in Tang Bohu's timeless painting album, blending it with the unparalleled elegance of the poetic dance "The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting" to create a transcendent space named "Azure Sky", where layered forests are bathed in vibrant hues. The theater building takes the form of a mountain, breaking away from the enclosed nature of traditional theaters and allowing the audience to connect more intimately with nature. This design is not merely an exquisite replica of natural beauty, but a bold transcendence of boundaries that unlocks infinite expansion and imagination.

Upon entering the theater, the audience will immerse themselves in a dual feast for the eyes and the soul. The spatial aesthetic design ingeniously incorporates elements of Tang Yin's culture, creating an otherworldly artistic ambiance. The unique I-shaped stage design breaks spatial limitations, allowing the audience to become part of the story and co-create a cross-temporal cultural collision with the performers. From the lighting effects on stage to the actors' costumes and props, and even the decorative details within the theater, every element embodies the essence of Tang Yin culture, enabling the audience to appreciate both the performance and the unique charm of Taohuawu's people and emotions.

On the opening day of Taohuawu Theater, the immersive drama "Peach Blossoms Remain—Tang Bohu" was also performed. With delicate strokes, the play outlines the legendary life of Tang Bohu, blending historical narratives with theatrical romance to create a distinctive narrative tension. The dance sequences in the play combine the grace of classical Chinese dance with the fluid freedom of modern dance, perfectly capturing Tang Bohu's temperament and spirit.

The DoBe TAOHUAWU project, jointly developed by DoBe Group and Suzhou Historic City Group, covers an area of 35,000 square meters with a total investment of nearly 100 million yuan. This represents DoBe's successful exploration in the integration of culture, sports, and tourism, aiming to establish an influential demonstration project in the ancient city of Gusu and nationwide. The opening of Taohuawu Theater not only marks a new phase for the DoBe TAOHUAWU project but also serves as a fresh interpretation and expression of Jiangnan culture.

In the future, Taohuawu Theater will continue to enhance and upgrade existing theatrical experiences while introducing more productions created by students and university clubs, diversifying performance genres to offer audiences richer cultural experiences.

With the grand debut of Taohuawu Theater, the millennia-old city of Gusu is unfolding a new chapter of "Taohuawu Stories" in the modern era, blending tradition and innovation in a unique way. Here, visitors can feel the weight of history and the continuity of culture, while also appreciating modern innovation and the charm of art. It will become a new calling card for the ancient city of Suzhou, attracting an increasing number of people to visit and experience it.
